About me!

Feels like an about me page is mandatory on these types of sites, so I figured I'd toss my hat in the ring!

I'm Cid, I'm a dragoon and a pilot… I wish. I'm actually a game designer, teacher, and a professional unfunny joke teller.

I grew up on second-hand consoles, and had to beat the game I owned before I was allowed to have a new one, so I burned through a lot of old, retro games while everyone else my age actually went outside.

As I'm sure you can tell, I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy; however, I'm down with any game/game genre you can throw at me (if we want to look into the taxonomy of player I am, I'm an explorer through and through). From Chrono Trigger to Crash Bandicoot 2, if a game has an engaging hook, count me in.

So...You like Game Design? What makes a game good then, Mr. talks to himself via heading tags?

I hate this question. So here's my answer:

If you ask me, a good game isn't "fun". I hate "fun" as a descriptor or selling point for a game, as it implies that games HAVE to be fun to be worth examining. A good game should be engaging.

If I explained PowerWash Simulator to anyone outside of the gaming zeitgeist, I'm certain they'd look at me like I'm crazy, or at least ask me to stop holding up the queue as other people also have to do their shopping, but if I got them to play it, they'd understand instantly before sharply banning me from the local Tesco.

Why did you choose to have a Neocities?

This website is made specifically for me. I won't even start off with promising weekly updates or daily reviews or monthly anythings, because I have the attention span of a… well, of the typical modern-day internet user, and I know for a certain fact I won't stick to a schedule.

What I can promise, though, is that these thoughts are my own: my own game reviews, my own game design rambles, my own terrible takes about how Final Fantasy V is the best one and you can't convince me otherwise.

Games are an art, but firstly they are escapism. Don't take this site too seriously, and I'm sure you'll love your time here!
